Noon: Drama at MCG! Siddle bowls Dravid, umpires checks where he landed and the big screen shows it over. No Ball! Dravid survives. Australia are living a nightmare here. 203 for two. Eight overs left in the day.

11.30 a.m. Fifty for Dravid, Tendulkar! Both the batsmen reached their respective millstones in contrasting fashion. While Dravid got it with a streaky four behind the wickets, Sachin nudged a single to long-on by walking down the track to offspinner Lyon. It's the 62nd half-century for Dravid, while Tendulkar has now hit two more than The Wall.

10.40 a.m. Tendulkar at his best! The maestro got himself going with a late upper cut for a maximum on the first ball he faced after tea. He attempted the same shot, which went for a four, a little later. Dravid, despite looking edgy, is grinding his way out.

9.40 a.m. Virender Sehwag departed after scoring 67 off 83 balls as India reached Tea on day two at 99/2, with Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar at the crease.

Sehwag became the victim of an inspired bowling spell by James Pattinson, who made the dashing opener hop on occasions before cleaning him up.

9.10 a.m. Sehwag fifty! The dasher gets to his half-century by carting Lyon for a boundary in the long-on region. Meanwhile, Sehwag has also become the fifth Indian batsman to reach the landmark of 8,000 runs in Test cricket.

8.15 a.m. Gambhir perishes! After fidgeting outside his off-stump on numerous occasions, Gambhir finally nicks one back to Haddin. The dismissal takes place after a heated exchange between Sehwag and Aussie pacer James Pattinson, who elbowed the opener when he was completing a single.

7 a.m. India reached lunch at six for no loss. Sehwag, as usual, gives some anxious moments, playing a mistimed lofty shot over mid-off on the very first delivery he faced and slashing hard outside his off-stump. Gambhir is looking compact and up for a fight.

6.45 a.m. India bowl Aus out! Ashwin gets his second wicket of the day, third overall, as he shatters the stumps of No. 11 Nathan Lyon and India dismiss Australia for 333. Pattinson shows good technique and remains not out on 18.

6.25 a.m. Instant success for Ashwin! After frustrating India with his typical tailender-like antics of throwing his bat at everything, Hilfenhaus finally departs after his mistimed heave goes straight to Virat Kohli, who couldn't get a simpler catch than that.

5.45 a.m. Another Aus wicket down! Zaheer is getting the reward of pitching the ball up consistently. After bowling a number of inswingers, Zaheer bowled one that seamed away after pitching, taking a healthy edge from Siddle's bat before nestling into the hands of Dhoni.

5.15 a.m. Zaheer strikes early! Zaheer's effort of bowling his traditional inswingers paid off when he got the thick part of Haddin's bat, which was taken cleanly by Sehwag at a deepish gully. Haddin paid the price of playing away from his body.

4.30 a.m. Hello and warm welcome to all. We are back with our live coverage of day two of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India at the MCG on Tuesday. The weather is looking clearer than Monday, with sun beating down.

India would like to strike early and take the remaining four Australian wickets cheaply, while Australia would want Haddin to manouevre the tail to take Australia close to 350.

Day 1 summary:

The honours were shared between the two sides on the first day as India, who were looking sluggish at one stage, with Ricky Ponting (62) and Ed Cowan (68) taking the game away from them, made a remarkable recovery with the twin blows by Zaheer Khan in the final session of play, while an undefeated 63-run seventh-wicket stand between Brad Haddin (21) and Peter Siddle (34) took the Australian score to a respectable 277/6 at stumps.

Umesh Yadav, though on a little expensive side, was the pick of the Indian bowlers with the wickets of David Warner(37), Shaun Marsh (0) and Ponting for 96 runs, while Zaheer provided two crucial breakthroughs - Michael Clarke (31) and Mike Hussey (0). R Ashwin got the important wicket of Cowan.
